The institution has raised $1.081-billion since the campaign opened, in 2008. Rechercher via les fondations des ressources additionnelles pour l’enseignement supérieur et la recherche paraît nécessaire et judicieux. Face au désengagement de l’Etat, potentiellement, quatre types de ressources en propres (autrement dit non publiques ou encore privées) sont principalement à considérer pour les établissements de l’Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche : la formation continue, la recherche partenariale, le mécénat et les frais de scolarité. Il nous semble que les fondations sont l’une des voies pour contribuer à résoudre la difficile équation du financement de l’Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche. Comment? Les pistes de réflexion et d’actions La crise est une période de changement dont il faut profiter pour faire bouger les lignes et pousser le monde de l’Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche d’un côté et les entreprises de l’autre à créer des passerelles pour trouver ensemble les moyens de la surmonter. Les débats que nous conduisons depuis plusieurs années à l’IFFRES et mon travail sur le terrain comme conseil en stratégie de développement des ressources ont fait émerger quelques lignes fortes. As I joined in 2007, the Northern Rock collapse was unfolding, heralding the broader financial crisis that was to have impacts on all areas of society. Total new funds secured jumped by 14.4% from the previous report, itself a record. The number of alumni making donations rose 5%, to almost 170,000 people, and non-alumni donors increased by 11% to almost 44,000 people. Higher education institutions across the U.K. raked in a record £774 million ($1.2 billion) in fundraising during the 2011-2012 academic year, according to a new survey. Fundraising was up by 14% compared to the previous year, and by 33% compared to 2009-2010. Results from the Ross-CASE survey show that universities in the U.K. spent more on their fundraising campaigns and hired more fundraising staff, resulting in higher overall donation levels and a larger number of donors. A study of charitable giving to universities reveals they have received £774m in donations in the past year – a rise of 14.4 per cent on the previous year's figure, itself a record, and 33 per cent up on two years ago. Researchers say universities are adopting a US-style approach to fund-raising. In the States, Ivy League universities such as Harvard rely heavily on donations from former alumni and sponsors. Changing the Learning Landscape (CLL) aims to bring about changes in approaches to technology in learning and teaching within higher education institutions. As part of CLL, the HEA is running a number of free one-day CPD workshops to provide a practical introduction to the use of learning technologies for HE staff. Up to £5,000 of funding will be available at each event. Individual attendees will be invited to bid for between £500 and £2,500 to help them fund small-scale projects to embed the use of technology within their institutions. The workshops are running until 29 May 2013 at venues across the country. Some are <a href="http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/cll/apd-in-lt" target="_blank">designed to suit academic staff</a> and some are aimed at <a href="http://www.heacademy.ac.uk/cll/development" target="_blank">staff with curriculum and teaching development and support roles</a>. China's rich showed increasing enthusiasm about making big donations to the nonprofit sector and most of their donations, including pledges, went to universities in 2012, according to a new report. Last year saw charitable gifts of 4.9 billion yuan ($787 million) and pledges of 60 billion yuan from the country's top 100 individual donors, according to the China Philanthropy Research Institute of Beijing Normal University. The total value was five times that of the previous year, it said. Huang Nubo, chairman of Beijing Zhongkun Investment Group, a private company, topped the list as the most generous donor with a pledged gift of 50 billion yuan to Peking University over 10 years. Huang, alumnus of Peking University, donated 900 million yuan to the university and another 20 million yuan to another two higher education institutions in 2011.
